Default computer battery
ok i was going to sell my buddy my old comp but i dont think he is going to pay for it b4 i move ( still really good ) but he says the battery is dead and he cant turn it off cuz the settings will not save ( hhhmmmm thats not rite is it )


he has a password on it to log on when i go get it and take the password off will it save


i googled it and it said a battery only saves the clock time

That is the bios battery likely. Thats a small watch style battery thats inside the case attached to the mother board. Easy to find/replace.

did he replace it with a proper battery? Also he may need to reset the jumpers after doing so.
depending on the age of the mobo that is. He may also need to flash it after changing the battery and clear the cmos.

ok so what would happen if the battery didnt work cuz the comp worked fine when i had it time and everything was fine and it still works fine ( he just says the settings dont save )
